Why Coaching? And Why It Might (or Might Not) Be the Right Fit for You
As a coach, of course I’m going to advocate for coaching. I’ve seen - first-hand and through my clients - just how powerful and life-changing it can be. Coaching is empowering. It's forward-focused. It's about momentum, clarity, and growth.
But here’s the truth: coaching isn’t the only path. And it isn’t always the right one - at least, not at every stage.
It’s important to know what makes coaching different, when it’s most effective, and when other forms of support might better serve you.

What Coaching Is
Coaching is a collaborative, goal-oriented process. It's not about fixing you - because you’re not broken. It's about:
Helping you get unstuck
Reconnecting with your inner clarity
Create achievable plans
Challenging your limiting beliefs
Taking aligned, actionable steps toward the life you want
Coaching is present-to-future focused. It’s about where you are now, and where you want to go next.
It’s not about fixing you - it’s about helping you uncover the strengths, clarity, and confidence that already exist within you.
But Here's What Coaching Isn’t
It’s not therapy. Coaching isn’t designed to process trauma or diagnose mental health conditions. Therapy looks to heal the past. Coaching builds from where you are.
It’s not counselling. While emotions are a part of coaching, it doesn’t offer crisis support or delve deeply into emotional wounds.
It’s not mentoring or advice-giving. Coaches don’t tell you what to do. We guide you to find your own answers—because lasting change comes from within.
When Coaching Is the Right Fit
You’re emotionally stable, but stuck
You want clarity, direction, or change - but aren’t sure where to start
You’ve healed (or are healing) from the past and are now ready to move forward
You’re craving personal growth, confidence, and purpose
You want accountability and momentum
When Something Else Might Be More Helpful
You’re dealing with unresolved trauma or ongoing emotional distress
You’re in a crisis or struggling with mental health symptoms like anxiety, depression, or PTSD
You need deep emotional healing before you can focus on future goals
You want specific technical advice or training in a particular area
Coaching vs Other Interventions
Here’s a simple comparison of coaching and other common forms of support:
Approach | Focus | Goal | Best For |
Therapy | Past & emotional healing | Understanding and healing psychological wounds | Trauma, anxiety, mental health issues |
Counselling | Current challenges & emotional support | Coping with life’s difficulties | Crisis, grief, relationship issues |
Mentoring | Guidance from experience | Learning from someone who’s “been there” | Career development, skills, industry advice |
Training | Skill-building | Gaining specific knowledge or techniques | Job-specific growth, learning frameworks |
Coaching | Present & future | Unlocking potential and creating change | Goal-setting, confidence, clarity, transformation |
Why Choose Coaching?
You’re ready to grow, not just heal Coaching works well when you’ve already done some self-awareness or healing work and now want to move forward with purpose.
You want clarity and direction Coaching helps untangle the confusion so you can get clear on what you truly want and how to get there.
You’re feeling stuck, but not broken You may not need therapy - you’re functioning, but something still feels off. Coaching helps break through blocks and shift mindset.
You want accountability and momentum Unlike advice-giving, coaching empowers you to make your own decisions and take consistent action toward your goals - with support.
You want to upgrade your mindset Coaching often uses tools like NLP, mindset reframing, and values work to help you rewire beliefs and habits that no longer serve you.
A Coach Doesn’t Tell You What to Do - They Help You Discover It for Yourself
That’s the beauty of coaching: it's not about having all the answers. It’s about having the right space and right questions so you can find your answers - authentically, powerfully, and in alignment with who you are.
Coaching isn’t a quick fix. It’s a transformative partnership. If you’re ready to shift from surviving to thriving, from uncertainty to alignment - coaching might be exactly what you’ve been searching for.
A Note from Me, as a Coach
Most of us who become coaches didn’t arrive here by accident. We arrived because we were once coached ourselves. We experienced the shift - the moment things clicked, the space we were given to think freely, the encouragement to dream bigger, and the accountability to take action. We felt seen, challenged, empowered. And it changed us.
That’s why we’re here - doing this work. Not because coaching is the only answer, but because, for many of us, it was the first time we felt like we were truly moving forward.
You Deserve the Right Support for You
Whether it’s therapy, counselling, mentoring, or coaching - what matters most is that you feel safe, supported, and empowered on your path.
Coaching is powerful. But it’s not about selling you a solution - it’s about inviting you to explore one, when the time is right.
If you’re ready to explore that possibility, I’d love to be part of your journey.
